Default Average Engine Life?

Whats the average engine life for a 1992 Boneville?

I'm trying to convince my dad to keep the Bonni and the GTP. So I wanna get the engine life on most engines to try and convince him to keep both.

Thanks...

Yes I'm A

L27.. not LS1.
anyway, the average life is hard to determine. Just know that with proper care it is really easy to get over 200k miles. The only thing that might stop you on the 92 is that it doesn't have an EGR valve and is prone to burning exhaust valves.

Like custom said if well maintained.. that is the key factor. You can have engines that weren't taken care of, die at 50,000 miles, but you can have engines that are taken very good care of, see [like 1993SLE mentioned] see almost 400,000 miles. Oh yeah, and custom, not all '92s are EGR-less. Some are, some aren't. I believe the majority aren't, but don't quote me on that.

The largest limiting factor on our cars, is the transmission. It is the weak point on our cars.. and quite frankly, a large one at that. So take good care of that tranny too! If you already are seeing 150,000+ miles from your car, and nothing major has gone wrong. Don't be suprised if that enigne makes it to 250,000-300,000. Like I said, good care, loving, and maintenance are key .

yes the 92 were a weird year, some had the magnavox ignition and some had the delco, some had the Aluminum upper intake and EGR less and some have the Plastic intake and EGR

there is no definate point when they changed over parts......when ever they felt like it, most likely

The Bonnie will last forever. My old Bonnie is still in the family, going strong.

I have almost 260,000 on original engine. Only thing changed on it was a WP. It has no sign of quitting any time soon either
