it'* just playing with you, I have also done the same trick... it seems as if you get the abs motor to run, the light will stay out for a little while, just wait until the next cool morning, and you will see.. I believe it has something to do witt the abs motor loosing contact,,, because it has not activated in such a long time....but really don't know...
Well, another chapter (and hopefully the last). On Wednesday, it was raining a little, just enough to make the street slick. So, just before I got to my driveway, I locked up the brakes on purpose (the ABS light was off, no other traffic around) and the ABS operated normally. I pulled into the driveway and locked the car for the night.
Next morning I went to the car to go to work, started the car, fully expecting the ABS light to stay on until I stopped and restarted the car. To my surprise the ABS light turned off without restarting the car. I thought that it may be a fluke.
Next day, same thing. ABS operated just like it was supposed to. And again this morning (now 3 times in a row) all was as it should be. So it would seem that:
The added ground got me to an intermittent condition that I could work with. Before the added ground, the ABS light was on all the time and the ABS would never activate.
The last ABS activation appears to have cleared whatever was setting the light.
Let'* hope it stays this way.

I'll be watching it carefully for the next week - it is supposed to be in the low 40'* to high 30'* overnight for the next several nights, and I'll post back if the light stays on again. If you don't see a further post, all is OK.

I am sure it is not a WSS or hub. When the light was on, it would come on without any movement by the car. A WSS code would not be set unless the vehicle was moving and the system detected no signal from one or more sensor(*). At least, this is how I understand that it works. I am on day 4, and the ABS is still operating normally.
I get no sounds from either front wheel, and have no issues with either side.

Here it is, 2 months later, ABS still working as expected. It was -2F yesterday, ABS light still not lit. A few days ago, I took the car to the auto parts store to pick up windshield wipers. The parking lot behind the store was a sheet of ice, so I had a little fun sliding around for a few minutes. The ABS operated normally.

I had a similar problem on my 1999 Grand Prix. Periodically, the ABS and TRAC OFF lights would come on, but their ABS scanner said there weren't any current codes. The shop noticed that one of my wheel hubs had a broken harness, so the plug, while staying connected, was dangling around. They zip-tied it down and the problem never came back the rest of the time I had the car.
If you get a chance to pull off your wheels, you should make sure the connectors are not only connected, but secured as well.
