This is intersting to lern about as I think I'm also do for new alternator here in my future. Hence my dead Optima (I think that'* wire) bad cables aren't exactly a good start either. Which would be the best alt for the money from the link I have here:

Lakeville - the one for 139 is probably your best bet money wise. But you could prob pick up one or use your existing one and have someone rebuild it, maybe that guy in mankato. You're not driving your car so..

heated windshields are 140 and the SSE/SSEi has the 125
it all depends on RPO
KG9 - generator, 140 amp with heated windshiled (Very few ever came with the heated windshiled)
KW2 - generator 124 amp most SSE/SSEi
K68 - generator 105 amp SE/SLE

The 140 (en route) has a 3 prong connector on it that the 105 apparantly doesn't? All of these i've seen before are for external regulators, even though it has a build in one as well right? I don't need to worry about this then, just hook up my existing Alternator connections right?

i swapped in the 140 amp(stock was 105) on my SE. It was plug and play except for having to modify the positive wire to accept the HUGE terminal on the new alternator. I also had to adjust the wires because there is barely enough clearance to fit the 140 in the alternator spot
