Adjusting air suspension (1995 bonneville)
Do you have to jack the car to use the "inflator" valve in the trunk to raise the car?
With the car on it'* wheels, nothing happens when I put an air fitting there
I'm asking because I don't want to over-inflate if I happen to do it with the car jacked whilst it'* not the right method.

valve in the car is for tires and air mattresses and junk, my came with a acc kit with fittings for different things, the car goes up and down automatically if yours doesnt there is something wrong.

What you say makes lots of sense. I've read there should be a switch there, mine just has a hole and the inflator fitting... i'll dig in it this week-end... i was sure it was like truck airbags you can inflate manually

where is the compressor supposed to be? is the sensor adjustable? is there a light in the dash supposed to tell me the compressor is running? (my caddy has "level ride" light")
Also, the rear end is maybe half a inch lower than the front, whats the good height?

i think the compressor on mine is under the trunk toward the pass side on the frame maybe. no light. mine sits pretty level. you can hear it running if its working the compressor is pretty loud. theres a rod with a sensor attached to the susp. in the back that could be suspect. i dont remember an adjustment but i wasnt looking very closely either.

On the '95, the compressor should be at the front of the engine bay, on the drivers side, near the ABS pump assembly. The car should sit dead level if everything is working properly. Some have saggy springs in the back, which, if the level system is not working properly, will only get worse as weight is added. Mine used to sit dead level with no weight in it, but now with new struts, sits a little high, but is starting to settle down finally. The pump should start up 20-60 seconds after turning on the key to pressurize the struts. The FSM recommended method is to load the trunk up with 300lbs, turn the key on, and the car should level out. Pump activation should occur in 15-35 seconds, should shut off at level, or when overrun protection cuts in (2-6 minutes of continuous run if I recall correctly). Once leveled, the car should stay level. Once level, you can pull the weight out. The car should vent the struts 15-35 seconds after that, and the car should start to settle back down.
The pump is not as loud as others would have you believe, but is audible. Mine is about as loud as the engine at idle. The level sensor I believe can be adjusted by removing the arm from the sensor, and changing the relationship of the spindle of the sensor, and the arm. I also believe there are notches, but it should still be set properly if nobody has messed with it. You also may wish to double check the fuses by the driver'* feet. ELC should have its own fuse.

seems like the condition of the suspension shouldnt have anything to do with the ride height, its going to fill or unfill to get the sensor in the set location
