Don't know about a smaller belt but when the compressor went out on my '95 Olds 88, I installed a bypass pulley. They DID NOT make one for my specific application but I was able to use one for a '97 with some minor modifications. I keep it in my trunk on road trips now. I had to make a jumper wire on the compressor switch built into the pressure line to make my cooling fans work right. Without the jumper, they would run all the time. Ran with the bypass pulley for months till I scrapped up the bucks for a compressor. (I got a killer deal on the compressor thru a vendor on ebay, under $200, american made with clutch. If you want infor PM me and I will pass his name on to you.)

Watch out on the 95. IIRC it retained the older style compressor and more importantly the older style compressor bracket. The bypass pulley may not bolt up to the 95 bracket. If that'* the case, you can get and use a 96 bracket and it'll all work fine.
Holler if you need one. I'm sure there'* one laying on the shelf
