ABS light always on
Hey guys, I'm working on the '93 Lesabre again...
The ABS light comes on when the car is started and never goes off. And as predicted, anti-lock felt when making a hard stop. It was on when we bought the car, and even though I've bled all the lines, replaced the master cylinder (and bled the lines again) the light is still on. The brake fluid level is correct.
Can the ABS light be set to flash a code, or does it have to be pulled with a scanner? Would the free scan from like Advance or Autozone pull it, or do I have to have a TechII pull it?
Thanks guys.

Traditional braking component repairs will have very little to no effect on ABS.
It'* either the PMV, EBCM, a WSS (in the hub), or wiring. You need a dealer to pull the code. They'll typically charge 80 bucks or more minimum shop rate to do so.

The dealer isnt the only one that can pull codes. We use a Snap-on Solas at my shop and a Modis at my other shop. Both are capable of pulling ABS codes...and much more. There are many indepentant shops that have the same scanners and charge a lot less than the dealer. For example, our rate is $52 an hour for diagnostics, which is a lot less than the dealer. Just saying that there is that other option out there

Right. I found a small town shop that used a Snap-on right out of my OBD port on my '94. They only charged $20. They correctly diagnosed a left front hub.

Thanks for the replies guys. That reminded me that my neighbor has a Snap On scanner and can probably pull it, so I'll ask him. I'll reply back with whatever it is

(edited--oops, one post behind again)
re willwren'* comment:
Ah, thanks, now I understand. The EBCM connector is above and to the right of the accelerator pedal, correct? (hope I'm not getting this thread off-track, but this stuff is pretty confusing to keep track of :? )
F14crazy:
In view of what willwren said above (in his last post), any scanner is going to have to have a very special connector to attach to the EBCM socket.

Slug, for the 93 in question, yes, the EBCM is under the carpet, behind the stereo on the firewall, to the right of the GO FAST pedal.
94 and 95 (and later) the EBCM moved to the engine compartment.
A snapon scanner will be useless on an ABS issue for a 92/93.
