I did a TB clean and it gave me some more power and smoothness, but the surging/chugging is still there. The only thing I havent done is change the coils. I dont feel like spending any more money on this car though....

hey man, thanks for responding. don't bother with the coils... i just got brand new MSDs and the problem has not changed at all... where to go from here??? methinks the pcm is the culprit.

So, that leaves a rather large problem, the tranny. I have replaced basically everything except for that, and that is just not gonna happen with this car. I will just keep running it until it dies I guess. If anyone has a cheap tranny fix that doesnt involve adding additives or putting an OD switch in, I would be interested in hearing it.

by "did that already" you mean you put in a new pcm?? did you get OEM, or some kind of performance option? give me all the specifics you can about it.

The only other thing I havent done is get the injectors cleaned. But someone else did that and it didnt change their problem.
At the start of this problem, which has been going on since last year I think, I suggested that it seems the TCC solenoid or the Torque Converter is the culprit. I humored others who said that is was ignition or fuel related, but I still think its my tranny. Another reason I think its the tranny is that it makes noises when it is hot and shifting into TCC lockup. Sort of like a plastic slipping / chirping sort of noise.
In my gut, I feel about 95% sure this is a tranny issue.

that does help, thanks for the info. i don't know how much good all my questioning can do, i guess i just want to get an idea of who'* experiencing this problem, their trim level & mods, and what they've done to try and fix it. wasn't there a guy who had a whole new torque converter and tranny put in and he still had the problem? i can't remember where i read that. so anyhow get this. i sent a pm to marksssei about the problem, cuz he claimed earlier in the thread that cleaning his maf solved his woes. he is still surge-free, with a clean maf plus the addition of an INTENSE pcm. i just wonder if there'* something in the stock programming that goes awry. is this even possible i wonder???

It is the Tranny!!
The Tcc soleniod is the culprit.
Not the Torque Converter.
This info from a good tech. Not me.
Dont go replacing everything like I did.
Use the switch. It works Great!!!!!!!!!
I have put 60,000 extra miles on my car without replacing the tranny. Without this switch
I would have replaced tranny along time ago. I am now at 195000 miles and still going strong.

My car has had this problem for a long time. We took it to a trans shop and they said that the tranny was fine, just normal wear and tear. We got a trans cooler anyways and that seemed to help a little bit, but when its hot out and i am on the interstate it still revs. I will try the MAF cleaning this weekend and report back to see if that make a difference. I am due for new plugs anyways, so if the MAF cleaning doesnt work I will try that too. If this was a transmission problem then why wasnt the tranny shop able to figure it out? Its a pretty good shop.

Coils are a prime culprit. They can fail only when hot. I had two stock coils fail in this manner.
Keep in mind that each of you may be dealing with different problems. Don't discount trying something if it didn't help another.
Even simply checking the resistance of plug wires can be a huge benefit in troubleshooting this. But that can't answer all. Plug wires can read fine, but still short to ground somewhere else. They have to be carefully inspected.
Pulling your plugs and 'reading' them can be of huge benefit. They can indicate coolant leaks, oil leaks, lean conditions, or misfires if you know what you're looking for.
