trunk latch - no remote - no key
The click you are hearing is the trunk solenoid relay. Under the glove box there is another fuse block you have to remove the plastic cover I think 3 screws to get to remove it. The fuse block is mounted on the passenger side kick panel behind and to the right of the plastic cover. There is a fuse and a relay for the trunk and there is a diagram on the back of the plastic cover so you know what is what.
My guess is if you can hear the click of the relay it and the fuse are ok - but pull the panel and check the fuse anyway. Common problem is the solenoid that operates the latch on the trunk goes bad usually breaks a plastic tab off. If that is the case you should be hearing the solenoid snapping trying to work (on the truck) when you push the button.
Without the remote or a truck key (BTW not the same as ignition but a rounded all metal one) If you do have a trunk key but it just doesn’t work try lubing the key hole?
Try this:
Have someone push the button on the door – at the same time - push down on the spoiler HARD it will take some tension off the trunk latch if is binding it might work. If that works - take the latch part and lube it good but better to replace the solenoid. ACDelco 16872627 Trunk Lid Pull Down Actuator Amazon or better junk yard
Next you might try a GM dealer and see if they can cut a truck key using your VIN number.
You may have to pull the back seat n crawl in there and try to take the latch off – 10mm socket.
Sounds crazy but it were me I would “think” about borrowing all the ratchet extensions I could enough to make a 5 footer – tape on the socket and tape the extension together and see if I could get the 2 10mm bolts out of the latch assembly from the pass through.
sorry so long maybe Gearheads can help

i think you got the right idea but dont assume the relay is good because it clicks, there should be a similar one you could try trading with to see if it works.
