95 Bonneville SE cutting out
Lately I've had an issue w/ my Bonne dying on me while driving. I'll just be driving aling and all of the sudden the tach drops, the engine shuts off and I get 4 dings from the info center (like the 4 dings you hear when the gas gauge gets low and it says to "check gauges"). Then without touching anything it fires right back up and continues on as if nothing happens.
This started a month or so ago where it would just be a momentary hiccup but it wouldn't die. I just kind of blew it off as it needing plugs/wires (which it does) but now it seems to have taken on a more sinister plan of wanting to die at random which leaves me wondering if it will leave me stranded one day here soon w/o any warning.
In the grand prix world this is usually a sign of the crank position sensor going bad. Am I to assume this is the case here as well or is there another more common cause on this particular car, like maybe the PCM? No CEL on and everything else works fine except this issue.

I had this problem. take a small stick or a broom handle and while the car is idling tap the top of the coil pack lightly. My 93 ssei would shut right off. changed the icm to fix that problem. it was cool being able to shut the car off like that, but not so great when we got the baby in the car and we're doing 100 on the highway.
