Default 94 SSE leaking coolant

Hi guys, sorry for the coolant leak post, but I can't figure it out
I have a 94 SSE leaking coolant
First I thought I had a leaky heater core because I could smell antifreeze when I ran the heater. Upon further examination (thankfull I hadn't spent the time to get to the heater core yet) my brother and I found a leak on the block (on the driver side) we thought it was a head but from what I can gather here the manifold is more likely. Is it possible it'* the head? Could we have mistaken where the leak was coming from? And does a leaky head or manifold explain the coolant smell?

Thanks, Doug

Well im guessing your upper plastic intake is cracked..its defintally an issue with the non-supercharged 3.8'*

this tech info submission is based on a Series II but should give you a good idea..
thats if this is the problem
Have you checked the thermostat housing..there is a little pressure screw on the top of it, is it tightend down? Is the gasket any good? Old thermostat?
Id check out the cheap things first!
Im sure a few gearheads will reply to this as well!

heater core is probably leaking. take off the passenger side footwell panel under the dash and check the carpet on the passenger side to see if it'* wet or not.

But anything is possible... Would it be possible for you to take a pucture of where you smell or see the coolant?
I haven't had time yet to take a picture of the coolant pool. It definitely looks like it could be either the upper or lower manifold, although it'* tough to see because the exaust manifold goes right over why I'm trying to look. I just bought the gasket set for the upper and lower manifold online, they should be here firday. Are you saying coolant flows through the throttle body? I don't think I've ever seen that before. Anything out of the ordinary to remember when replacing the gaskets? Thanks
