Hi,
I'm having an intermittent problem with my '93 SE, 150K miles.
Occasionally the transmission will not engage when shifting from park into drive (feels like it'* in neutral). Happens most often in the morning before the car warms up. Drive will finaly engage after a few minutes of working through all gear positions.
Transmission shifts normally once it gets going. Starting to hear some tranny whine.
I'm considering changing the ATF. Existing fluid is at the correct level and has good color. Maintenance history is unknown.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Joe

If your trans has never been flushed and had the filter changed, it might be a good idea to do that. You will need a filter, pan gasket, 7 quarts of GM trans fluid and a inch pound torque wrench. When you have the pan off, inspect the magnet in the pan for any debris sticking to it.
