92 Bonneville SE - Good or Good-for-Nothing?
Okay, need some advice and opinions. I work at a gas station at the front of my neighborhood, and there'* a woman in my neighborhood who has a silver 92 Bonneville SE (Must be, doesn't even have alloy wheels) w/ 127k miles on it. Brought up today I'd love to buy it, and she said she was actually considering putting it up for sale! Ya gotta ask Hehe, she even said she wasn't sure if she wanted to sell it, due to the fact that it has been so reliable for her =} Well, duh, it'* a Bonnie Anyway, she said the "air conditioner" had been replaced, with a remanufactured or used unit, one of the two, and one other thing I can't remember. Didn't have much time to ask about too much info, as we were busy, but she said she'd come back to talk to me about it next time I worked. Advice, opinions, etc. are appreciated In particular, what'* the problem(*) with them being EGR-less? Thanks again, everyone, in advance!

Being a recent owner of 92 Bonneville ERG-less, I'm somewhat bias. I have 115k on my car now just purchased it about one month ago. I learned alot about the car from the guys from the forum and one of the first things I did was to install a low temp thermostat (180 degrees), fresh coolant and a good quality oil, just traveled to the state of Penn Saturday at a adverge speed of 75 mph a round trip of 160 miles and the temp gauge remained well below the 200 degree mark, ambiant temp was 80-85. I stay away from just getting in my car and making short un-neccessary trips. My car itself has some factory performance options installed, it'* not a SSEi but my baby handles like a dream.
The only mod I would like to do right now is to get a computer chip upgrade and some hi-po ign wires.
Check out the RPO codes in the trunk on the spare tire cover. Then go to the Technifo section of the Forum and see what the car has installed from the factory. Good luck.

Hmmmm....
Maybe I should reconsider getting one. Being a student with a school less than two miles away and my work not 1/2 mile away from where I live, I take LOTS of short trips. That'* about all I do with my Bonnie. No way to avoid it for me, although it would be nice to tell my mom "No, sorry, I can't get the water jugs filled, it'* too short a trip" =p I might want to just forget about getting this particular Bonnie or any other 92. Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it

I never brought up a 91, if you're talking to me... the 92 I'm talking about has 127k on her, though...

The 92'*, produced late, MAY have gone to the EGR and Plastic upper manifold. Not sure. We have seen the Magnavox AND Delco ICM configurations on a 92. They were still playing around with the setup of the L27 that year.
I THINK late production may be plastic manifold with the digital EGR. Can you check?
