Will your insurance pay to have it towed?

No friends with a trailer?

With first gear it should only take you 50 minutes or so to get home if you keep it around 20. = P

i wish i was closer so i could help. i have aaa though, with my luck i have certainly gotten my moneys worth. the gold one is a little over a hundred bucks for the two person family and they will to 100 miles. and its by the person so when my parents or my wifes parents cars breakdown i go and give them my car and call for a tow as i was driving it and have it towed to my house

Actually Tom, I do have a friend with a trailer.

But, I'd rather not bother him with it.

I think later this afternoon, I'll take a drive out there with the laptop and see if I can command/force the next gear, or I'll pop the trans electrical connector off and force it into a constant 3rd gear. (if nothing internally is wrong, I should be able to do that).

Mike,

If you do have insurance, you may only be paying for the additional miles over the policy. Looks like 9 additional miles at $2 a mile = $18. May be worth paying the $18.

With the Son'* S10 trans failing, we upgraded my Wife'* AAA coverage from individual to family, and to the max coverage, including one 200 mile tow per year.

Sorry you are having this issue. You driving the V8 S10 now?

Rich and I went and got the car today. Weird thing is, it drove back all fine and dandy like nothing happened. I'm wondering if the extreme negative temps had something to do with like a solenoid not operating correctly that night.

Maybe time for some DEX VI? Do the siphon through the dipstick, will take all night, especially of fluid is super cold. Do the filter and exchange fluid again in the spring when warmer.
