there is a 1/4 inch gap at the seam that runs parallel to the rocker panels. this means the seal has shrunk right? so how do u stretch it out, or do i have to buy a new seal?

This is a common issue. I had the same thing happen to my 99, and the 92 I recently sold.
I bought a chunk of weatherstripping for the boneyard. (Actually, I think they gave it to me for free). I removed the existing door seal and cleaned up the surfaces on the car and also cleaned up the "gutter" of the door seal. I refitted the door seal and made it VERY snug in each of the corners. You will see a gap left at the bottom. Measure the gap. Cut a piece of your junkyard door seal based on the measurement. Make it slightly bigger. Remove the door seal. Glue the surfaces with the Permatex Auto Adhesive. Glue the little chunk too. Put it all back in place, glued.

would that small gap at the bottom cause my floor to get that wet? ive been doing some reading on these leaks, and there are other areas that cause the drivers side floor to get wet. i would hate to go through all that trouble, and not be the actual problem.

Want to know the easiest way to check for leaks? Go to a carwash (you wash it, not the automatic wash), turn your a/c on full blast and get out of the car. Make sure everything is closed up (obviously) and soap the car down REALLY GOOD (Might do well to get some car wash soap beforehand for lots-o-suds). Concentrate on all the window, door, and trunk seals. Now then, look for air bubbles forming...bigger bubbles mean bigger leaks :P
This trick was taught to me by a body shop i used to work at, and its the quickest way I think to find your leaks.

I see you are in Rochester NY.. Welcome
We have a few people in your area that are familiar with water leaks. As mentioned, door seals, and sunroof drains are common. There are a bunch of other possible areas as well.
Being that some of the leaks can be tough to find and require a second prerson. You could probably get together with other local members and have a water leak meet.
