1996 Bonne, K engine not starting... sometimes
Hi Guys
My Bonne died yesterday on the way to work. When I pulled off I could crank the motor but it would not start. I could get the motor to run with starting fluid but not on her own.
I cleaned the + terminal and it had noo effect.
This is the second time this has happened. The first time(10 mo ago) I cleaned the + battery terminal and she started right up and has run well until yesterday.
One strange thing about this is my power windows also stop working and sometimes the power locks. Sunroof works.
I had it towed home, changed cloths, sat down and she started right away. I started her 6-7 times with no problem. I then drove 2 mi, went into the store for 1 min and she would not start back up. I tried several times until eve. A buddy and I towed her home around 10:00. Soon after we were on our way I checked the windows and they worked. Got home, put the charger on and she started right up. I left the charger on all night.
This morn she started not quite right up but died before I got out of the drive way.
What I have done:
Had the battery tested and found it is strong.
Cut off the terminal that goes to the fuse block on the firewall and replaced. Removed the end at the fuse block, cleaned all contacts and replaced. Cleaned the battery very well.
She still will not start. I am wondering about the crank shaft sensor. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance Guys.

There are a bunch of possible things. How is the negative or ground battery cable? Cleaning it at both ends is always a good idea.
With the power windows not working, this aims us more toward the ground buss inside the drivers door...right under the carpet.
There was another member that found his car wouldn't run unless he kicked the carpet at the drivers door. Which was cleaning the ground buss.
Many of the cars have water leaks that over time corrode this grounding point and cause plenty of oddball electrical issues.

I cleaned the - terminal. I will go and check under the carpet. Yes I do have a water problem there.
It didnt look like I have fuel pressure when she would not start. I wondering if the pump is going bad or not getting power.

Pull the carpet back and look for the probably corroded ground. It has tons of wires going to it. Wire brush..contact cleaner...whatever works.
As for the water leak. You'll want to clear that up at the same time. Which means finding it. That can be a good time. Off to look for the water leak thread.
It'* a long read and if you need the pics, maybe we can ask Jr'* to reconnect them or send them to us. But here'* a thread with basically every possible water leak mentioned and fixes listed.
