1995 SE Bonneville starts then dies
I have a 95 SE that was running fine and now it will start up run for a few seconds then die. It will do this over and over, but will not continue to run. I have no warning lights on other than the normal on start up. It acts like it is getting fuel when you turn the key on but the injectors are not firing after initial startup. I do not hear andy clicking after it starts. Could this be a sensor problem, like a crank or cam? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Is it a strong short crank before it does up out does it take a few seconds? There are a few sensors you can unhook and try starting to see if it works. Camshaft you definitely can and I believe MAF and a few others.
How are your electrical connections? When it starts up does the voltmeter show 14 v?
If you give it some gas after it starts up for a few seconds does this have any effect?

I would suspect fuel filter or fuel pump. When you turn the key on the engine has a second or two to build up pressure, but once the engine is running there is insufficient pressure to keep up. Replace the filter, and check pressure with the engine running.
There are certainly other problems that could cause this, but you should start with the easy ones.

I am still having the same issue at before, where it will start and then die. I did check the fuel pressure and it is just above 40 psi when you turn the key on. When you try to start it will drop to around 35 and then goes back up after the engine dies. Is that normal or do need to change the fuel filter? What about the cam and crank sensors? Would then cause this problem? Thanks for your help...

My 1999 Bonneville SLE did the exact same thing; turns out the buss ground under the driver side front carpet was the culprit. Check and see if the driver power window and/or seat is not working properly - if so, it is the buss ground connector that needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the reply cashmgr. Unfortunately I have already checked them after reading post about it and they are fine with out any corrosion. My fuel pressure is at 40 psi, but have plans to change the fuel filter. If that does not help then it is on to other parts. I already have a scanner but it will not read the 1.5 and I hate to spend the money when this is my only one with 1.5. Could it be the crank or cam sensor?
Thanks
