I have a vacuum leak on the upper EGR tube on a 1995 3800 Sc Bonneville. I have tried to seal it several time but it still leaks. leaks bad were it fits in to throttle body. I am wondering if there was a sleeve or something that made it fit tighter. It started leaking after the garage cleaned the throttle body. I did not get to see it removed the first time so I do not know if there is a sleeve or seal or something to make it fit more tight. I can feel when I put the tube in the throttle body that it is to loose.

My guess is the EGR tube is cracked. This happens a lot when a old tube is removed.

Yes it has a crack about 1-inch long just below the lip on the top end. Any ideas on hot to fix it. I was thinking of using epoxy.

Replacing it.

It is the Super Charged engine. I have searched all over and can't find one anywhere

Yea, I found a site that is connected to salvage yards all thru the country. I got several that had a exhaust manifold when I needed it, but they seem to ignore the small parts. I will visit some local ones and try my luck. Thanks

That tube is the golden egg of parts. Very tough to find at all. IIRC they aren't making it anymore.

Perhaps just block off both sides and be done with it.

I was actually able to repair mine. First let me say that high temp silicone ane liquid steel type products were a waste of time. I took the part to a welding shop and was told that they were afraid that if they tried to braze it they would cause a bigger hole. I ended up using a very basic Bernzomatic oxygen/propylene setup that I purchased at Home Depot. I used a few of fire bricks to make a kind of oven to concentrate the heat and prevent damage to the concrete. This was my first attempt at brazing and I have no experience with welding so if you are not experienced it would be much safer to have it done professionally. My only point is that It is possible. It may not be cost effective and if you should attempt this make sure to do plenty of research since there is the distinct posibility of fire, severe burns, eye damage (exploding concrete, etc.) Welding goggles are a must so again, Danthurs suggestion is certainly valid.
