No. You'll lose some coolant, but you can minimize this by jacking up the driver'* side of the car. You'll lose maybe a quart. No more. Just make sure you dilute what spills in case the cats and dogs get to it. Top it off when you're done, and you'll be ok. This is very near the high point in the system.

As far as the stat, GET IT
About 5 or 6 bucks in autozone.
You can get the cooler here
And here is the pics of mine installed, and yes he was drunk

And if you can , remove that crappy plastic cover. It keeps the heat inside.[/url]

Dr Suess-
You'll be charged at least $65 to have a 180 stat installed. It only took me about 40 -45 minutes. SAVE THE MONEY! Will'* right, you'll get raped. I finally changed mine a few weeks ago. Used to run over 200 ALL the time. I run MUCH cooler now. After my 2nd tran cooler I'll be ready for Hector'* intake when it gets here!

It'* really easy.
Opem the hood, facing your engine , look at your raidiator . The metal pipe that comes into your top left hand corner. That'* it. Disconnected and put in the tranny cooler. Add more fluid. Done

The instructions that typically come with the cooler are very easy to follow. Pick up a cooler that is about 1foot by 2 feet in size (or smaller.....the same size as the SSE or SSEi got), so that it fits easily on one side of the radiator. You'll be installing it on the passenger side of the radiator. Look over the directions, and if you have any questions, we'll walk you through it.

You can do this with a crescent wrench, knife, and screwdriver. Nuthin to it. As easy as changing your oil.

Ariel, can you post that pic of your install here again?

Does one of those tranny coolers restrict any of the radiator, cause cooler is better right.

Yes, it goes in front of the radiator.

BUT:

Because you're pre-cooling the trans fluid BEFORE it goes into the radiator, you're preventing your Coolant (which also runs through your radiator) from 'gathering' as much heat as it would have normally done so without the pre-cooled tranny fluid. Make sense? Your car won't run any hotter because you put a tranny cooler in front of the radiator.

For those who don't know this already......Engine coolant (the green stuff) and Transmission fluid (the red stuff) BOTH flow through the radiator to be cooled off. Seperate passages, so red and green can't mix.
