core
correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't you say you removed the heater core?
Could it be that its not seated in the duct properly or the ductwork at the firewall didn't go together right?
Doesn't hurt to check.

floor
I think there is a few vacume motors above your gas pedal that control that.
maybe its time to pull the HVAC control and check all the electrical connections.

Guess Im quite the newbie but learning lots ,after changing heat core cleaning eavaporator core ,vaccuum and actuator apart and ok ,fixed one leak at intake manifold, today I changed thermostat for third time and presto I have pretty good heat ,but still defaulting to defrost and floorwhich I can live with.Seems I put all 3 thermos in boiling water first 2 I used in car popped way too early and were 195,the one I have in now popped later and is 180 - 192,go figure from now on I will always test thermos.I read a couple of threads about how older bonnies need the right thermo and I wish I would have spent more attention on thermostat. Thanks for all the help , Im new at fixing cars have been doing lots of work on my own(love doing it,and in love with Bonny, wife thinks im nuts) and couldnt have been done without all your help thank you much.

Glad to hear it worked out. Something simple like that could do it. Guess feeling the temp of the hoses isn't good enough to check temp.
Thats what you do though, keep digging to try and find the problem.
