Sometimes, Little things CAN make a difference
My recent Bonneville addition to the family didnt see much chance for a good going over. I simply loaded all my work stuff in it and we hit the road. The last 5 weeks have revealed that my new baby needed some attention. slightly rough idle, poor gas mileage and strange shifting from the transmission all cried out for some attention. Here is what I took the time for today.
Adjusted the TV cable, over 1/2 inch difference from where it did sit.
Changed the well used Champion sparkplugs to standard AC Delco.
Used a Q-tip and some isopropyl to clean the gunk off the MAF wires
Replaced lots of dried out vacumn lines.
Threw a new WIX air filter at it for good measure.
after, SMOOTH idle, proper shifts and effortless cruisng speeds now. Car and driver both much happier now.
She is ready for another 800 mile week, wish I could say the same for me

I don't have a TV (kickdown) cable, but I have the book:
1. Stop the engine.
NOTE: Check the throttle body for full travel prior to any adjustments by fully depressing the accelerator pedal and having an assistant check the throttle body for wide open throttle. If full throttle is not achieved, the accelerator system must be repaired before adjusting the TV cable.
2. Depress and hold down the metal readjustment tab at the engine aend of the TV cable.
3. Move the slider until it stops against the fitting.
4. Release the adjustment tab.
5. Rotate the throttle lever, by hand, to it'* full travel position.
6. The sluder must move (ratchet) toward the lever when the lever is rotated to it'* full travel position.
