Padgett,
When you replaced you engine, did you get a 91 3800 C with the one piece rear main? Or an 89-90? Just curious

Was before I really understood 3800s so found another 1990 "C". 1991-1993 "L" would have been better choice now that I know it would just need a new headpipe.

I know y'all probley tired of me asking questions but here is another one. I went and got a Chilton book. This book is way better than my haynes book for our malibu. But anyways. Before we move the car to our home made lift that can support me and my friend swinging on it.
I want to make sure we got all the bolts.
1. We got the 4 bolts on the driver side of the tranny.
2. We got the weird bolt on the other side too. Real easy with the heads off.
3. We got the ac off.
4. We got the motor mount behind the a/c off
Now when we tie the chain around it and pull up it should brake away from the tranny right?

Flywheel/Torque Converter bolts? There are three of these.
There are a total of 5 bolts, holding the block to the transaxle, including the one 'weird one.'
Other than that, there are only the engine mounts. So as long as you got all of them [my FSM doesn't explain all the mounts and whatnot] you are all set to go .

Excuse my ignorance But how do you get to them.
Looking at this pic that is the same pic in my chilton book
The only way to get to the flywheel is to pull the motor. Unless I'm missing somthing

I forget what size the bolt is, 9/16 maybe...
You get under the car and remove the cover plate( plastic ) from the trans and from there you turn the engine untill you get the bolts in the access hole then you attack the bolt.... Turn it to the next and attack it, then on to the last one...
