Pulling the engine

You can swap a complete "L" engine for a "C" but you will need a series I engine that still had the digital (mushroom behind the trhottle plate) EGR so 1991-1994. Anything later will require reprogramming.
It will need a new head pipe since the rear manifold is larger (and the manifolds do not interchange, the whole top end is different).
Have changed engines with just a come-along over the garage rafters but a wheeled hoist (two ton on sale at Pep Boys this week for U$109) makes life a lot easier.
Engine comes out without trans from top pretty easily but remember the backwards facing bolt on the trans case that takes a four foot extension.

Sounds like rjolly wants to get rid of his engine and/or tranny..
rocket: think of this.. rjolly has the 3.33 [GX3] ratio tranny. Wasn't it replaced before though? So, it isn't the original.. correct? I'd jump on that in a heartbeat, if I were you.

It rain this weekend so i did not go to the pick and pull. I'm also looking for another cheap LaSaber,Bonnieville, Olds Delta around the same body style. The body can look like crap as long as it runs good. I then can take parts off the broke down one and put it on the other one. If nothing works out their is always ebay for me to sell the parts.
As for something i can use to pull the engine, I think i found a tree strong enough to support the engine. My friend'* dad has like a 1 ton pulley. But the tree might snap so that'* what is stoping me from doing that. I had my hear to the ground and heard their are alot of people around my town selling engine hoist for around $150. A don't ask do tell thing.

No, is one shown alongside the block on the back side. Know I used just about every extension I had (and have some 12"ers) and think I had to go through the passenger wheel well.
GM seems good at that, had to use something similar (plus a swivel) to remove the starter from son'* GA Quad-4.
