motor mount or tranny mount.? how do i know.?
o.k i have a issue where every time i go to leave from a stop sign or red light the car feels like the motor is jumping and is about to fall out.
and when i am only going 10- 15 mph and let go of the gas its fine but when i step on it again it makes it jump again.
now when i put the car in park and my foot on the brake and then step on the gas with the other foot the motor barely moves.? (jumping wise)
but when i am on the high way i can go from 20 mph to 70-80 mph with no jumping which makes me believe its the motor mount and not the tranny mount.
from what i described can anyone tell me which it could be as i looked at all the mounts i can see and all look fine with no cracked or missing rubber.?
and i dont want to buy and replace the wrong one..

To test the motor mount the car has to be in drive or reverse, not park. When in park, the car is essentially in neutral, and the engine has no resistance against it'* torque, and therefore it won't move.

By the time you feel a bad mount, of any kind, all three are going to be bad. If you don't think all three are bad, just pay attention to the motor moving when brake torquing the motor, and see which side of the motor is moving the most.. but the cheapest solid mounts at autozone, for all three, I paid something like $40. The labour to have someone do it would be expensive, but doing it yourself sucks. So eh...

that is the same angle my motor jumps.. the pasanger side jumps more then drivers.. driver side actually looks like its holding still..
so i went to autozone and bought a passenger side front hydraulic motor mount for $40
now its to get it on....

88bonnsse,
Yeah at that point my motor mount was bad enough that is was hitting the stops.... The rubber was torn all the way around and the fluid was history
