so anyone got any ideas on what i should do? replace the system from the headers back with a better one? if so, what size? come on people i need part numbers/details here *smartass*

Agreed. Did 1990 have the digital EGR like 1991 did?

Even with the mileage I've got, emissions test results are totally amazing. VERY low and WAY below the limits. Like a new car.

fix it and be done with it. I don't miss those tests. What we have here is inspections- horn, lights, turn signals, windshield damage.

You have nothing to loose by trying to pass the test as is. If it fails, then look at fixing a few things (keep the receipts handy), and give it another try. I believe if you spend X amount of dollars trying to get the car to pass, and it still fails, they will make the car exempt. The plates on my turbo STE got suspended because of missing the emissions test, which I received no notices for. Of course, my results when I finally took it in were far worse then just not passing the test .....
