How many cooling fans is my car supposed to have?

in 1992+ models two cooling fans were standard. Pre-1992, it was optional, being more common on SE, & SSE models. LE models didn't have the extra cooling fan unless they also had the external tranny cooler. I don't know, but I think some of the SE'* came with a sport package on them that MIGHT have included the dual fans, bucket seats, etc, and it was probably std on SSE models.

Yeah my 88le seems to run on the cool side. It heats up pretty good at start like almost to the red before it drops down to like 160 or less. Then it goes up a little bit and goes back down again.

As you guys saw in the pics, my cars one of the ones w/ two fans.
One fan is really smaller then the other... do you think if I went to the scrap yard I might be able to get another larger fan, and replace my smaller one w/ it :?:
I'm just looking into ideas on how-to keep things cool under the hood.... she puts out a lot of heat

Are you 180 t-stat-ed yet? that helps
the second fan is an auxillary fan, and comes on under extreme heat condtions. I think it also works in conjuction with the air con...I think Don (jr) has put a tranny cooler on his car. See thats the worry, the number one killer of our trannies, besides the total amount of torque, is the heat
