HELP!!! SSE88 I have CODE 41-43 & 63
Last Tuesday The Service Engine Soon light is "on" and stay "on" (I had in the past 'intermittent SES WARNING but never had a "stay on light)
The car ride is different since the light is stay on.
The symptoms I have noticed lately are ;
1) The car RMP is changing every 3 to 5 seconds (approx 200 rpm) when the A/C compressor is on)
2) I noticed a sliding in my transmission on highway cruise when I speed up from 75 kms/h to 100 kms/h when the car is on the overdrive. A muffed sound is audible (oil level is ok and the car was never raced in the past)
I got the following codes
code 41 (CAM SENSOR CIRCUIT)
code 43 (ELECTRONIC SPARK CONTROL ESC CIRCUIT)
code 63 (EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION "EGR" FLOW check
Last monday I have replaced my origin "O2" sensor with a AC DELCO refurbished one from my GM dealer.
due to "stinky" exhaust odoors (fuel mix was too rich I think)
The odoor disappeared with the new O2 sensor..
I don't know if the 02 sensor replacement has a role in all the
above codes?.
What can be done at first to solve these 3 problems?
Should I rely on a my mechanician or is this something I could
attack myself?
I need your experience on this guys!
Thanks

Well actually code 43 can be 2 codes.
code 43: Electronic spark control circuit or Knock sensor problem
Now I have had to get my cam sensor replaced due to the cam walking and hitting the sensor. Basically your cam is held in place with a little button and spring against your timing chain cover. I just started to pass a car ( not really pushing it) and my SES light came on due to the cam sensor.
I am not sure what your EGR looks like but if it is like mine on the 90sse, then I was able to remove it and clean it up and it was fine. If you look at Willwren'* sig pic you will see it is a kinda mushroom looking thing. But mine is located at the back of the engine not the front like Will.
As for the knock sensor/electronic spark control, well it may be a good idea to get the codes cleared then see if the light comes back on then check the codes again.
