Default Gauge Cluster Question

How hard would it be to change out my gauges for a different one that has a tach and an actual oil pressure gauge. Right now all my gauges are dummy lights and a temperature gauge.

Only the SE and SSE came with a tach and proper gauges...it would involve a lot of wiring and a dash kit. You might get that from a wrecker. Timsmooth added a tach, it works!

Having a tach in an older sedan...nice...

The wiring might already be there... I'm not sure.

You could always go aftermarket too..they make several types...single...cluster...whatever...

ya but I like the look of the original gauges and stuff so I don't think i'd wanna do that unless I have too. All I really wanna install that I don't have is a tach. Which shouldn't be too hard.

You can get a pillar w/ molded gauge cut-outs..they look pretty cool...and almost factory...

I've been interested in doing this as well, and would also prefer to just swap in a SE/SSE gauge cluster. Does anyone know for sure if the wiring is already there (just not used by the LE dash)? It would be sooo nice sometimes to know exactly what the engine is doing. Oil pressure too.

I wouldn't swap one in from an SSE because the compass will not work without the compass module. The DIC is different too. But the SE and probably some LEs come with a "Gauges cluster" that has the temp, oil pressure, tach and voltage without the advanced DIC and compass.

Fuddy..

Mine has a DIC but no compass. Are there SE'* that come without DIC'*? Maybe easier to do the swap that way
