Free ALDL Scanner
Earlier this year I sought out a free ALDL software scanner for my 1990 Bonneville. I searched pretty much everywhere but there was nothing free, and Ease was pretty much the only one I could buy. My bin editing software had an universal ALDL scanner, but no defination file for the LN3, so I made my own. Grab it here: http://home.comcast.net/~bdimitroff/bonneville.ads You will need the bin editing software also here: http://www.supportfitness.com/mark/t...ProRT_v306.exe This is a 8192 baud scanner so it may or may not work in 160 baud with a cheap cable, I use an AMK cable. Let me know if you find any errors in the defination or anything, I know Target AFR is incorrect, but a few others like injector BPW and spark advance look wrong, but I am not exactly sure.
EDIT: Fixed spark advance, BPW is correct, and target AFR is very close.

I use either an OTC 2000 or the DIACOM software from Rinda (my "new" car is a '92 so have not needed anything later). Both can record on a PC (OTC requires a special cable). Never got to the point of analyzing the data stream but should be fairly easy with the Diacom output (did for the Fiero some time ago just never for the "C" 3800).
As mentioned before I really like the OTC 2000 for a "carry around" unit and there are usually several on e-Bay. Just three things to make sure of:
1) works
2) has two row GM cable (I tape mine on since all my cars are GM)
3) has GM or 3in1 cartrige through your model year.
Need to get the Fiero one out but *think* the 88 cartridge worked in our '90 Bonne. If so the 89 would also.
BTW the "C" 3800 is a "P4" & uses the 8192 baud data link. Earler CCC used in 2.8 Fiero is 160 baud.
Seems like a lot of work being done on adapters and such to connect a PC to the ALDL. See Craig Moates site http://moates.net
