update----
so i went go and see if the car starts up again since this morning and this time when i went to start it it let out a big POP noise. ( a single pop ) but it was kinda loud almost like a back fire noise but from the engine area. and it did not start again.. it cranks but does not start and if it does start 9 times out of 10 it will turn off a minute or 2 later and not start for several hours after...
i got the fpr and a throttle position sensor from the yard for $9 total. i will try to replace them tomorrow night starting with the fpr first.. and if any of them fix the problem i will go ahead and pick up a new one from advanced auto..
so does anybody have any other ideas on what it could be making the car act like this...
i really wanted this car to be my daily driver again untill i fixed the issue with the 95 se that is cutting my tire up.
i feel safer having my family in the 88 sse until i fixed the 95 se..
any help or ideas will be greatly appericated... thanks in advance

My 89 actually did a similar thing when the fuel pump went bad. It would run for awhile then i would just get a spurt of fuel from the railand the car would not start. After it sat for a bit it would fire up. I replaced the new Shuck'* pump with a Napa pump and no problems since. It had something to do with the pump clearance after it ran for awhile.

that would suck truely... i dont mind having to buy another if thats the case but what really gets me is that i have to go thru the headache again of dropping the tank and replacing the pump my self................ my friends all drive honda'* and acura'* and they are too lazy or too stupid to work on my car... well thats the excuse everytime i ask for help.. alteast there honest

troubleshoot everything else first, regulator, and put a gage on the rail to see what pressure you have. Our cars are getting old and the lack of demand for parts has sent them to cheap manufacturing which cost quality and reliability.

Out of curiosity, what was the 4 character code on the Calibrator Prom from the junk yard (the one you were trying to run the car on...I'd be curious to look it up to see what sort of motor the ECM thought it was hooked up to.)
