Ugh... please tell me that isn't true. I filled up the coolant, pulled head bolt, and water came out. Isn't that supposed to happen? Why else would it be recommended for teflon tape to be placed on the threads?

I really don't think coolant should be coming out of your head bolt holes. My recommendation is you find out for sure. PM Willwren. He'll know.

I didn't do anything over 1/2 throttle until about 20-25 miles. Didn't do any WOT until about 30-35 miles, and here I am just over 40.
jwikoff: I only pulled the left-hand side longEST head bolt [the one you torque down first].

Did you drive the car with the FUBAR'ed torque reading on the head bolts?
I swear you said something about 40ft lbs, if that?
I think not having the heads torqued enough was a problem...
And most GM applications will not exceed 100Ft lbs on the head bolts...
I never did torque mine down following factory specs...
I think my outer bolts are 65ft lbs and center 4 bolts are 70ft lbs...( again this is not per factory spec ) I did use Felpro head bolts and gasket set, the heads were done at the machine shop, no warp, I also had the use the Viton valve stem seals that were in the kit...
4 years later I don't loose a drop of coolant or consume any oil, and I still drive the tar out of it....

Umm.. no.. I don't think I did drive the car with the 40ft lb torque. BUT I could be wrong. If I did, it was only around the block [literally].
Why didn't you torque the heads to 100ft lbs as per factory specs?
I too have the viton valve seals![Smile](https://www.gmforum.com/gm/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I think part of your problem was that you're running the car too hard too soon....I wouldn't have even touched 1/2 throttle before 100-150 miles let alone WOT before 500 miles.
