ANYBODY please, please help, car alarm driving me NUTS
No matter WHAT I try, I can't get this **** car alarm to go off! For the past month, the alarm has gone off whenever I hook up the battery terminals and it won't let my car start unless I disarm it.
I have literally searched the web every single night to try and find an answer, I have posted questions on 5 car forums, nothing to any avail.
When I try to disarm the alarm by unlocking the door with my key, it does nothing! It doesn't phase the alarm at all. The alarm will go off, and if I allow it to complete its cycle, it will stop until I do anything else to tick it off: open a door, try the ignition, press a button, anything.
I am at wit'* end and am about to take a bat to my car, I am going insane.
PLEASE help.

Is this the stock alarm? I posted a message about how to disable the VATs system about a week ago. Do a search for VATs here and you shioudl find it. I wont have time to do that for you at this time, sorry.

OK, I moved this to the correct area. Knowing the year and trim level before hand really helps us to help you. As for the VATs override for your year, that I can't say for sure. There are other members that have far more knowlage in that area then I do. If it does work be sure to let us know so if anyone in the future has this problem they will be able to use it.

no, my key doesn't even have a vats chip on it so my car can't be vats, and the website says that only bonnevilles from 92-99 have it, so it can't be the VATS system. there must be some other explanation... help please

new update: i found the alamr, yes it is aftermarket. the alarm has no markings or label or anything on it. i, at this point, could simply cut the alarm but it owuld not solve the problem of the car not starting.
