40th anivesary swap into 90
Im thinking of getting a 97 SE 40th Anversary Bonneville parts car. Side swipped down the whole side but has a 52k na motor. Tires have 2000 miles. The guy selling it is retired and it is his mothers car, so old lady to church and all that.
I'd like to swap into my 90. New tires and crome blades that came on the 40th. Rather than putting 3.06 gears in my tranny i can just drop the entire cradles out.
Anyone know what gears the na 40th would have come with ?

computers not gunna like alot of things unless you buy a obd2 tuner that you can turn the tree hugger junk off, you would still have to convert a few things to obd2.

Aha ! But when you drop the eng cradle with the eng trans struts brakes and computer you wont have all the problems. Thats the reason for buying a complete running can instead of trying to mismatch eng'* and transmissions. No reason to buy a better tranny and not use it. Besides all te guys doing the SC eng swaps are not keeping there old tanny'*.

I know the computer is no on the cradle but i'll have the entire car to pull the computer and harness.
I'm not trying to ba a jerk but i do realize i only said engine. Just that it'* mileage is a selling point.

im doubting the 1997 cradle will bolt right up, they r differant body styles, and there are other differances than just appearance. and the challange of running a Series II in a car that came with a "non" Series 3800 is gonna be time comsuming

Same cradles. 97 cradle even has LN3 mtr mount holes. If you search on here you'll find people talking about it.
But still not sure i'll actually do it. Still have my 92 Regal L27 mtr and 4T60 trans not 4T60-E , ran the vin. My 90 is LN3 and 4T60 also ran the vin. The Regal has 3.06 and way more responsive and quicker than the Olds with 2.84 gears. They both get at least 25 on the highway.
No one has said if i can use the L27 intake on the LN3 . Does the TB bolt and work ?
I'd want to port the L27 heads and intake.

I would say, if a motor swap is in the to do list, why not go all out, and drop S2 L67 in it?
And for those who are watching, randman1 swapped a S2 L67 in to a 90 or 91 SSE. Worth the read if you want to take on a project like this. Don't bother posting in any of these threads, as they are quite old, any questions, ask them in this thread. Boosty was there through the whole thing:

I already have a 99 Regal GS . SC motors like hi-octange and lots of it. The Regal runs great, cmfotable and fast too expensive to fill. My 90 gets way better mpg'*.
Besides i also have a lifted 92 Jeep Cherokee with a 32 gal tank. It gets pretty good on the hywy. 20-22 if you dont fill up the tank. Normally i put about 20 gal in it unless i'm going really far and get the gas cheap. It has a 2000 mtr swapped in just recently.
Lots of mostly factory upgrases including rear disc brakes. There are even a couple jeeps or more running the Camaro/firebird 3.8 and any other motor you can think of.
